A self-taught Prodigy pure mathematics with an affinity for maths whizz resolved shook his head in disbelief as he walked away with the prestigious BT Young Scientist of the Year. Paul Clarke (17), St. Paul College in Ashen, Dublin, has never dreamed of winning the competition held for his project on the theory of cyclic graphs. But we enjoyed every moment we had worked on it more than 300 hours maths whizz, it mattered. And he intends to spend the rest of his life working to solve the problems of graph theory.
This is what I really like something that I can work in my head without the need for a pen and paper, he said. Putting the project into plain language was a little difficult even for Paul but he explained that graph theory is related to almost every aspect of science maths whizz, providing a mathematical way to examine the data. Professor Tom Gaffney, judge in the category of chemical, physical and mathematical sciences, said Paul had a profound contribution to the study of graphs.
